The Quechua people of the Cotahuasi Canyon are located high in the Andes mountains of Peru.  Living in small villages within some of the most rugged terrain on earth (the deepest canyon in the world) they were largely unreached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In 2001, the Shaw family began work with a few Peruvian believers to evangelize in the 40 communities of the canyon.  New little churches now need help to grow spiritually and in their own ministry development.  As they reach out to more isolated villages, these believers are seeing God change lives for His glory.  But many more need to hear the Gospel and the Lord is calling others to serve in various kinds of ministries.

We need a lot of help!  Please pray about coming for a few months, a year or two, or give yourself completely to serving Him in Peru.

Work with local believers, traveling to small mountain villages.  Develop relationships, evangelizeing, disciple, plant new churches, and train elders through your example of a Christian.  This is a real pioneer role that will have a huge impact on many people and their communities.  PRF#: 7518

Develop youth ministries in the mountain villages.  Build relationships through visiting, counseling and discipling.  Young people need strong, Godly role models.  PRF#: 7516

Help reach out to children and youth through helping them with their academic studies after school.  Public education is seriously lacking in quality.  Develop relationships, share your faith and tutor them in their school work.

Even though coming for a specific role, you are invited to participate in other ministry opportunities related to your gifts and interests.

People to work with children, youth and families, administration, theological education, church planting, discipleship, outreach using English as a second language, radio minsitry, construction and maintenance, and other possibilities depending on your abilities and interests.

Experience with rural life and culture in one's own country will greatly help, but rural living skills may be acquired here!
